First things first… in order to undertake any motorcycle training course, you must hold a valid U.K driving licence, either a full car licence, or your first provisional licence. Northern Ireland licences, and licences from countries in the E.U, can also be used, but they must be accompanied with a valid U.K counterpart, known as a (D58/2). To apply for a UK counterpart licence (D58/2), you will need to complete a (D9) application form. Which can be obtained from any post office, you must also enclose your community driving licence to apply for a UK counterpart.
If you need to apply for your first provisional UK driving licence, then you will need to complete an application form called a (D1). Which can be obtained from any post office.
